A person was killed and seven others wounded in a shooting Sunday at a Lawndale block party.

Eight people were shot about 3:43 a.m. in the 4200 block of West 18th Street, Chicago police said.

Demetrius Flowers, 33, was struck in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the back, the medical examiner’s office said.

The other seven victims were being treated at local hospitals and were in conditions ranging from good to fair, police said. No further information was immediately available.

Witnesses were not cooperating with Area Central detectives, police said.

About two hours earlier, four men and three women were wounded in a shooting in Douglas Park.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
