Two men are facing felony weapons charges after police cameras allegedly caught them with handguns near the scene of a triple-fatal shooting earlier this month in West Garfield Park.
Officers in a Harrison District technology center saw Andre Hughes, 26, and Jaqwon Moore, 24, on police POD cameras while each was armed with a handgun at 3:18 p.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of West Maypole Avenue, according to Chicago police.
Police were monitoring cameras in the area in the wake of a triple-fatal shooting a few blocks away Sept. 18 in the 4200 block of West Madison Street.
Officers responded to the scene and took them both into custody after a brief foot chase into a building, police said. One gun was recovered.
Hughes is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon on parole, according to police.
Moore is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card and a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession between 10 and 30 grams, police said.
Both men live in East Garfield Park and are expected to appear in court for bail hearings on Monday.
