A 57-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday in west suburban Aurora.

Officers responded to reports of a person hit by a vehicle just before 7 p.m. to the 500 block of South River Street, where they found a Brent Jean lying in the road, Aurora police said. Jean, of Aurora, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities closed South River Street between Prairie Street and Second Street while officers investigated, police said. The vehicle that struck the man fled the scene.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Aurora Police’s Traffic Unit at 630-256-5330 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000 to leave an anonymous tip.
