A man died two days after he was shot last week in South Shore.

About 6:15 p.m. Oct. 13, Deshawn Fletcher, 25, was in the 7000 block of South South Shore Drive when someone opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Fletcher was struck in the abdomen and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He died Oct. 15, according to the medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of anoxic brain injury from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area One detectives are investigating.
