A 35-year-old man was carjacked Friday night while letting an unknown man test-drive his vehicle in Uptown on the North Side.

About 9:20 p.m., the 35-year-old was letting another man test drive his black Lexus RX 330 in the 800 block of West Wilson Avenue, Chicago police said.

The man had previously reached out to the vehicle owner online about a test drive, police sources said.

During the test drive, the man became irate and began asking the owner if he was a police officer, police said. The man then showed a handgun and demanded the owner exit the vehicle, police said.

The owner complied and the man fled eastbound on Wilson Avenue from Hazel Street, with a black Chevy Equinox trailing behind him, police said.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

The man who stole the vehicle is about 6-foot-2, police said.

Area Three detectives are investigating the incident.
