A 39-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Saturday in Lawndale on the West Side.

About 4:40 a.m., Tommy Jamar Common was traveling in the back seat of a vehicle in the 4400 block of West Cermak Road when the rear window was shattered, according to Chicago police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the Austin community area.

Police reported no arrest.
