Chicago Theatre Week to add extra weekend in 2015

Chicago Theatre Week, which has proved to be an immensely successful box-office booster for the dead of winter period, as well as a celebration of Chicago’s vibrant theater-going habit, will be expanding in 2015.

Returning for its third year, it will run Feb. 12 – 22, 2015, and now span 10 days — a week and two full weekends — for the first time. More than 100 productions are expected to participate as part of the 2015 lineup — an event presented by the League of Chicago Theatres in partnership with Choose Chicago.

Among the productions already committed to the 2015 Theatre Week event are “The Selfish Giant” (at Chicago Children’s Theatre); “Waiting for Godot” (at Court Theatre); “Rapture, Blister, Burn” (at the Goodman Theatre); “Tannhäuser” (at the Lyric Opera of Chicago); “The Who’s Tommy” (at Aurora’s Paramount Theatre); “Marie Antoinette” (at Steppenwolf Theatre Company); “Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play” (at Theater Wit), and “Samsara” (at Victory Gardens Theater).

The complete list of participating theater will be listed this fall on http://www.chicagotheatreweek.com. In the past two years, more than 200 shows have offered value-priced tickets to more than 600 performances in one week.
