Former “The Walking Dead” star Laurie Holden will try to keep people from dying in the potential “Chicago Fire” spinoff “Chicago Med,” according to a report Friday by Deadline.
The website said Holden has been cast as Dr. Hannah Tramble, “a fearless, brilliant ER surgeon whose tough-as-nails childhood has given her a dark edge.”

Holden joins previously announced cast members Yaya DaCosta, Nick Gehlfuss and S. Epatha Merkerson who have all been signed to the possible offshoot of “Chicago Fire,” which has yet to be officially greenlit by NBC. The network will test the pilot in the upcoming 19th episode of this season’s “Chicago Fire.”
Maybe Chief Boden’s wife, played by Melissa Ponzio, can show Holden around Chicago. Ponzio also had a role in “The Walking Dead” in 2013 as Tyreese’s ill-fated girlfriend, Karen.
