Defensive tackle Stephen Paea, one of the Bears’ most effective players at any position this season, is inactive for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Paea has been suffering from turf toe; he said Friday he thought he’d play.
The Bears will start Landon Cohen, who they signed off the street 10 days ago, in his place. They might also move defensive end Corey Wootton inside more often, or play unsigned free agent Zach Minter, a defensive tackle who is active for the first time.
Other Bears inactives are: cornerback CJ Wilson, safety Anthony Walters, offensive tackle/guard James Brown, tackle Jonathan Scott, tight end Steve Maneri and defensive tackle Cornelius Washington.
The Saints inactives list: wideout Lance Moore, running back Mark Ingram, cornerback Rod Sweeting, safety Roman Harper, tackle Terron Armstead, defensive end Tyrunn Walker and nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley.
