Earl Bennett out for Bears

Wide receiver Earl Bennett, who missed practice all week because he returned to Texas to deal with a family issue, will not play for the Bears today against the Packers.

The Bears have not specified Bennett’s issue, though he Tweeted one week ago asking people to pray for his brother. Wide receivers Marquess Wilson and Eric Weems figure to take snaps in his place.

The Packers activated one of their top receivers, Randall Cobb, who hasn’t played since Oct. 13 because of a knee injury. Star linebacker Clay Matthews, as expected, is out.

The rest of the Bears’ inactives include: quarterback Jordan Palmer; offensive linemen Joe Long, James Brown and Jonathan Scott; defensive end Cornelius Washington and newly signed wide receiver Chris Williams.

The Latest
Hours after Williams said he asked the Bears for reasons why the team had a well-worn history of quarterback struggles, GM Ryan Poles said that “we’ve got to stop going back all the time.”
The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.

Here’s where all the year’s top rookies are heading for the upcoming NFL season.
The position has been a headache for Poles, but now he has stacked DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Odunze for incoming quarterback Caleb Williams.
