(FOX LAKE) A northwest suburban couple who won $2 million playing the Illinois Lottery said they are going to buy their first home.

Chuck and Charlene Schriver have been living in their Fox Lake apartment for 24 years, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.

“Because of this lottery win, we can finally buy our first home,” Chuck Schriver said.

The couple purchased their winning ticket at Minuteman Citgo, 205 N. Main St. in Wauconda.

“Every year around the holidays I treat myself to a Merry Millionaire ticket,” Chuck Schriver added.

The retailer will receive a bonus of $20,000, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
