Police are warning South Side residents of a recent string of armed robberies in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The incidents occurred near the 6100 and 6200 blocks of South Wabash and South Michigan avenues and each time, at least one suspect approached victims and announced a robbery while displaying a handgun, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The suspects are described as black males, between the ages of 17 and 20 years old, standing between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, weighing between 130 and 150 pounds and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.

The weapon is described as a dark steel or chrome pistol, police said.
