Boeing Co. and Alcoa have signed a long-term supply contract valued at more than $1 billion.
The contract for aluminum sheet and plate products is the largest ever between the companies, Alcoa said Thursday.
“This historic agreement not only continues the 35-year Alcoa-Boeing partnership, it will take our collaboration on next-generation metallic technologies even further,” said Klaus Kleinfeld, Alcoa chairman and chief executive.
Alcoa said the agreement makes it the sole supplier for wing skins on Boeing’s metallic-structure airplanes. Alcoa plate products will be on every Boeing lines, including the 787 Dreamliner.
