A company that sells produce subscriptions is hoping to get a boost from its new Bridgeport warehouse.

Colorado-based Door to Door Organics said its 25,000-square-foot warehouse and offices at 815 W. Pershing, and the 31 people who work there, have enabled the company to expand delivery within 50 miles of Chicago, from the Wisconsin state line to Joliet.

“Our aggressive and strategic investments in Door to Door Organics’ local operations further our commitment to remaining a trusted business in the community and allows us to better meet the unique needs of both downtown and suburban customers,” CEO Chad Arnold said in a news release.

Door to Door Organics previously operated out of a smaller warehouse on the West Side. The new space will include taller refrigeration and shelving to store more than 3,500 local, organic and natural grocery items, the company said.

Customers can subscribe to weekly or every-other-week boxes of fruits and vegetables. They can also add a range of groceries — pantry staples, frozen foods, meat, dairy — to their order without an extra delivery charge.
