(GURNEE) A missing 7-year-old north suburban girl who was abducted by her mother has been safely found downstate and her mother is in custody, police said.

Amayrani Brambila and her mother Siomara Alvarado, 37, were located in Springfield after exiting a bus from Galesburg, according to a statement from Gurnee police.

Police issued a missing person alert for Amayrani after she and her mother were last seen leaving in a taxi on Sunday evening.

Alvarado has been charged with two counts of child abduction and is awaiting extradition to Lake County, police said.

Amayrani is in good health and was reunited with her father in Springfield, police said.
