A man and woman were killed and two other people were injured in a crash Tuesday evening on I-90 near northwest suburban Marengo.

Demonte Wigfall, 18, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix with three passengers eastbound on I-90 near mile marker 32.75 just before 6 p.m. when he lost control, and the car struck the concrete median wall and then a guardrail, according to Illinois State Police.

The car bounced off the guard rail, striking a semi truck in the center lane and another semi in the far right lane before drifting back across to the left shoulder, where it stopped, police said. Wigfall and 18-year-old Desiree Wease, who was sitting in the front seat, were ejected.

Wigfall, of Godfrey, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the McHenry County coroner’s office.

Wease, of Rockford, was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, where she was pronounced dead, according to police and the coroner’s office.

The other two people in the car were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

All eastbound lanes of I-90 were closed for about six hours.
