For the third time since President Donald Trump’s election, thousands of women and their allies braved unfavorable weather and took to the streets Saturday for the Women’s March through Chicago.

Protesters started gathering about 9 a.m. in Grant Park, near the main entrance at Columbus Drive and Jackson Street, and the march kicked off about 11 a.m.

Local leaders who participated in the march included Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and more.

Participants marched on through wintry conditions after a snowstorm dumped about 3 inches of snow on the city, ruining some travel plans and leaving roads slick and slushy.

This year’s Women’s March comes as arguments will begin next week in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. The House of Representatives voted to impeach the president on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for pressuring Ukraine to help him politically.
