A man was killed in a fiery crash Thursday morning on Interstate 294 in the southwest suburbs.

He was driving a black Nissan Sentra north on I-294 about 6:50 a.m. when he swerved towards the ramp to Interstate 55, Illinois State Police said.

The Nissan hit a rail, spun into traffic and was struck by a red Chevrolet Silverado, state police said.

The Nissan burst into flames, and the man was pronounced dead on the scene, state police said.

He was identified as Andre Hayes Jr., 28, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
