A man was in critical condition after he was shot early Sunday in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The 24-year-old was walking on a sidewalk about 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of East Garfield Boulevard when someone opened fire, Chicago Police said.

The man was shot in his head and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
