A 19-year-old man died Thursday, more than a year after he was injured in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood.

Richard Miller, then 18, was walking in the 6900 block of South South Shore Drive about 6:15 p.m. on May 18, 2014, when two suspects began to follow him, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

One of them fired a gun, striking him multiple times, authorities said. Miller was initially taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

He was pronounced dead at 9:17 a.m. Thursday at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Friday found he died of complications from the multiple gunshot wounds, and ruled his death a homocide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Authorities listed his home address as 7733 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park, which is the location of Elmwood Care, a rehabilitation and nursing facility, according to an online listing.
