A Far South Side woman died Saturday of injuries she suffered more than two weeks earlier in a traffic collision in south suburban Dolton.

About 2:40 a.m. on June 22, Lanise D. Chaney was driving a gray Audi A6 south on Chicago Road in Dolton when her car drifted into the northbound lanes near Greenwood Avenue and struck a white Chevrolet Avalanche head-on, according to Dolton Police police reports. The crash caused the Audi to catch fire.

Chaney, 33, was removed from the wreck and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where the doctor informed police that a blood test indicated her BAC was 0.16, twice the legal limit. She was placed in police custody at the hospital on charges of aggravated DUI, police said.

Chaney was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center at 4:42 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. She lived in the 1400 block of West 110th Street in Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood.
