WASHINGTON–GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney seems poised for a Tuesday Wisconsin primary win. He won the endorsement Friday of top GOP budgeteer Rep. Paul Ryan–a Wisconsin lawmaker– and is stumping with him around the state on Saturday.

The March 20 Illinois primary–with Romney scoring a decisive win in the popular vote and delegates–was a turning point in that the narrative changed with the victories: Romney is going to be the GOP nominee, it’s just a matter of time.

An NBC poll has Romney seven points ahead of chief rival Rick Santorum.

Ryan on Romney: “Who’s going to be the best president? Who has the best chance of winning the presidency? I think that’s Romney. Here’s why: I spent a good deal of time with Mitt Romney and his staff over the last number of weeks going through the kind of problems we have in this country. The fiscal problems, the economic problems. And just what it’s going to take to get this country back on track next year with a new president, new Senate and a House. And I’m convinced he’s got what it takes to do this.”

From the Romney campaign: “On Saturday, Governor Romney will address the Wisconsin Faith & Freedom Coalition Presidential Kick-Off in Pewaukee before holding a Town Hall with Congressman Ryan in Muskego. Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan will also drop by a phone bank for Governor Walker before Governor Romney addresses the Waukesha County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner.”
