Brandon Marshall says race played into Brady’s lifted suspension

Former Bears receiver Brandon Marshall said he believes the NFL’s decision to take away Tom Brady’s previous suspension is one based on race.

The New York Jets starting wideout appeared on a panel discussion on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL.” Even though it was the first episode of season, one of the main discussions was about the hottest topic in the NFL — Deflategate.

Marshall said quarterbacks get the most preferential treatment of all the positions.

“The race card,” Marshall said. “There are a lot of players out there that believe that white players — specifically, at the quarterback position — are treated differently.”

“This is how guys are feeling, this is not just my opinion,” he said. “These are conversations I’m having with guys.”

Marshall also called those siding with Brady, “fighters,” and those wanting to see Brady suspended, “cowards.” He said, “It’s not about what he did, if he’s right or wrong. It’s more about the process. Is it fair?”

Marshall enters his 10th season and has played for four teams (Denver, Miami, Chicago and the New York Jets.)
