The start of Game 2 of the White Sox doubleheader with the Tigers will be delayed due to a storm line approaching Guaranteed Rate Field Thursday night.
The expected start time is 8:15 p.m.
The announcement came shortly after the Sox defeated the Tigers 3-1 in Game 1. The two teams were rained out Wednesday, necessitating the doubleheader on the Tigers’ last day in town for this series.
The storm was expected to be through the area by 7:45 p.m. and the game, which had been scheduled for a 7:10 start, was expected to get in. Outfielder Adam Eaton will serve his one-game suspension for his involvement in a bench clearing incident in a game against the Indians on April 15.
In the first game, Carlos Rodon struck out a career high 12 batters and allowed two hits in six innings of work, Leury Garcia drove in the go-ahead runs with a single and the Sox overcame a one-run deficit with three runs in the fifth inning.
Rodon (4-0), pitching at home for the first time since throwing a no-hitter against the Indians on April 14, did not allow a baserunner until the fourth inning and allowed two hits, including an RBI double by Jonathan Schoop with two outs in the fourth. He lowered his ERA to 0.72 and has allowed only seven hits in four starts.
