A 17-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Friday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 1 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Paxton, according to Chicago Police.

The teen was shot in the left leg and was taken in good condition to Jackson Park Hospital, police said.

Police said the shooting appeared to be accidental and self-inflicted.
