A man was wounded in a shooting Thursday evening near Millennium Park in The Loop.

About 8:25 p.m., the 21-year-old was shot in the abdomen in the 100 block of South Michigan, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

The corner of Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street was blocked with crime scene tape as streams of people walked by and watched officers collect evidence. Passersby asked police for information, but officers said they couldn’t provide it. A second crime scene was blocked off a block west on Wabash Avenue.

The wounded man, who is gang affiliated, was being uncooperative with investigators and wouldn’t talk about the shooting, police said. No one was in custody.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
