One man was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting Friday evening on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 6:05 p.m. in the first block of West Pershing, near the former site of the Stateway Gardens public housing buildings, according to Chicago Police.

All three were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.

Maurice Hunter, 21, was shot in the abdomen and shoulder, and was pronounced dead at Stroger at 9:24 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the Chatham neighborhood.

A 19-year-old man’s condition was stabilized after he was shot in the head and hand; and a 22-year-old man was in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his back, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
