A man was shot to death Saturday night in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Luis Corona, 19, was in a parked vehicle at 8:05 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Karlov when two males announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The man tried to escape but was shot in the chest and then crashed his vehicle into two parked vehicles at the end of an alley.

Corona, who lived in the 6100 block of South Moody, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 p.m., authorities said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
