What did the bye week do for the Bears?
“It’s a time to rejuvenate, reflect, recharge, kind of reassess,” Fox said Monday after practice at Halas Hall. “I think people use it pretty much the same around the league. I like where we are right now, and we get to prove that over the next 10 games.”
It would help to have veteran safety Antrel Rolle (ankle) and linebacker Shea McClellin (knee) back in the lineup. Rolle has missed the last two games, while McClellin sat out last week’s 37-34 overtime loss against Detroit Lions in Week 6.
Without Rolle and McClellin, the Bears’ defense surrendered 546 net yards of offense to the Lions. Undrafted rookie safety Harold Jones-Quartey has played in Rolle’s spot. LaRoy Reynolds and Jonathan Anderson split snaps in place of McClellin in Detroit.
On Monday, Rolle was practicing during the portion open to the media. But Fox will not say how active he was until Wednesday, when he’s required to release an injury report. But McClellin did not participate.
“Shea McClellin, obviously, getting him back in there at some point, as well as Antrel, from a leadership standpoint, getting guys lined up and understanding how to execute our defense is key,” Fox said. “We’ve got some guys that we’re leaning on right now that will just get better with time until those guys can get back in the lineup.”
