Five people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a four-vehicle crash in northwest suburban Long Grove.

Firefighters responded to the crash about 12:30 p.m. on Hicks Road near Robert Parker Coffin Road, according to a statement from the Long Grove Fire Protection District.

One driver was trapped because the vehicle’s door had been crushed, and crews had to use a hydraulic rescue tool to free the door, fire officials said.

In all, five people were taken to the hospital and three declined medical attention, fire officials said.

Fire officials said the Lake County sheriff’s office was investigating.
