A man suspected in a west suburban shooting barricaded himself inside an Aurora home for about four hours Friday before being taken into custody.
About 2:20 p.m., the shooting happened near Elliott and Melrose avenues in Montgomery, according to Aurora city spokesman Dan Ferrelli.
Police tracked down the 19-year-old man suspected in the shooting about 3:15 p.m. at a friend’s house in the 1100 block of Homer Avenue in Aurora. Ferrelli said.
The suspect refused to come out, and police asked residents to stay inside their homes as they responded to the barricade situation.
A woman walked out of the home about 6 p.m., and a man exited about 6:35 p.m. Neither had been held against their will, Ferrelli said.
The suspect walked out of the home and was arrested “without incident” about 7:20 p.m., officials said. He was being held at the Montgomery police station Friday night.
