No one was injured in a crash involving a DeKalb County sheriff’s transport vehicle Tuesday morning in Belvidere.

A sheriff’s deputy was transporting an inmate from the Boone County Jail to the DeKalb County Jail about 8:20 a.m. on Logan Avenue in Belvidere, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

A black Chevrolet pickup, which was plowing snow at a business, backed into the street and into the path of the transport vehicle, which was unable to avoid the crash, according to the statement.

No one was injured, but the sheriff’s vehicle was damaged and had to be towed, police said. The inmate was taken back to the Boone County Jail.

Belvidere police are investigating the crash.
