A man was shot and killed late Friday morning while walking near Washington Park on the South Side.

The 22-year-old victim was walking in the 5800 block of South King Drive at 11:33 a.m. when a gold vehicle pulled up and an armed male suspect got out, authorities said. The suspect opened fire then drove off.

The victim — identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Jerome Anderson — suffered multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Anderson, of the 7900 block of South Wabash, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead about half an hour later, authorities said.

A police source said the man killed was a documented gang member, and was on parole at the time of the shooting.
