A north suburban man faces a felony drug charge after police found nearly 13 grams of cannabis in his Wilmette home Thursday night.

Officers were on increased surveillance in the 900 block of Pontiac Road after an uptick in resident complaints of drug transactions happening on the street, according to a statement from Wilmette police.

Investigators tracked the drug sales to 19-year-old Joshua Hawkins’ home on the block, police said.

A search of the house about 9 p.m. turned up 12.7 grams of cannabis, scales, plastic baggies, drug paraphernalia and $1,250 in cash, police said.

Hawkins was charged with a felony count of delivery of cannabis and misdemeanor counts of cannabis and alcohol possession and unlawful use of a license, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance after a bond hearing on Friday, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is next due in court May 7.
