SHARE Police warn of armed robberies in Near West Side

Police issued an alert after several recent armed robberies in the Near West Side neighborhood.

In each incident, two or three men approach a person, display a handgun and demand property, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

The robberies occurred:

  • 8 a.m. May 18 in the 1400 block of South Ashland
  • 11:20 a.m. May 19 in the 1300 block of South Racine
  • 4 a.m. May 20 in the 1100 block of West 21st Street

The suspects are about 19 to 20 years of age, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 and weigh about 150 to 170-pounds, police said.
