Police arrested a teenager on drug charges Thursday after a brief foot chase that ended in the parking lot of a southwest suburban school.
Officers were looking for a fugitive near the intersection of 127th Street and 248th Avenue in Plainfield about 8 a.m. when they spotted him in a vehicle, according to a statement from Plainfield police.
He turned in to the parking lot of Creative World School, got out the vehicle and ran into the empty playground area, where he was quickly arrested, police said.
No children were present, and no one was in danger during the chase, police said.
The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, possession of stolen property, trespassing and resisting arrest, police said.
He was being held at the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center in Joliet. His name was not released because of his age.
A second person in the vehicle, 32-year-old Rafat Hasan, was charged with possession of stolen property and taken to the Will County jail, police said.
