CHICAGO — Two national television news reporters have been cited for violating media orders in federal court during former House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s arraignment.

ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross and NBC Nightly News reporter Gabe Gutierrez were cited in court papers filed Thursday.

The Chicago Tribune reports Ross tried to interview Hastert in the Chicago courthouse lobby Tuesday and Gutierrez ran through a closed security checkpoint in an attempt to interview Hastert.

The court allows interviews only in a roped-off lobby area. Both men must appear before a federal judge July 28.

Hastert is accused of agreeing to pay $3.5 million to keep past misconduct secret. He has pleaded not guilty.

ABC didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. NBC said it would not issue a statement.
