The 15-year-old was shot and killed in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Wheeler, of the 2100 block of West Jackson, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:38 p.m., authorities said.

The other fatal shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 11:45 p.m. found a 19-year-old man unresponsive in an alley with gunshot wounds to the side after a possible drive-by attack in the 4400 block of North Magnolia, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened early Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. About 2 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was walking in the 5800 block of South Green when someone opened fire from a passing vehicle, police said.

He was struck in the right side of his lower back and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Three men were wounded in a shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side Wednesday night. The three were all standing outside in the 2700 block of West Lexington about 9:45 p.m. when three other males shot them from a nearby alley, police said.

One man, 30, was shot in the arm and taken to Stroger Hospital. The two other men were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. A 45-year-old was shot in the back and an 18-year-old was shot in the leg. All their conditions had stabilized, police said.

Several hours earlier, a man was shot in the eye in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.

About 5:10 p.m., the 22-year-old was in a fight with another person in the 600 block of East 67th Street when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him in the eye, police said. The person then ran off. No description was available Wednesday evening.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

A man was shot and seriously injured about an hour earlier in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 36-year-old was in a car about 4 p.m. in the 700 block of North St. Louis when shots rang out and a bullet struck his chest, police said. Relatives drove him to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
