A 63-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery Tuesday night in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side.

Three males approached the man in the 9400 block of South Racine and announced a robbery about 10:35 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. There was a struggle, and one of the suspects shot the man in the leg and hip as they ran away.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.
