Continuing the frog theme, on a couple levels: surprising frog on frog and big largemouth bass on frog.
Let’s start with Tom Pierce messaging an explanation for the photo above:
While bass fishing with a rubber frog in Aurora Illinois a giant bullfrog decided to take the bait
Well that is a little different.
On a more usual summer level, Billy Miller emailed this story, which I enjoyed greatly.
Hello Dale, I took an educated guess that if Turtle head lake was full of Bull frogs, why not try my luck casting a river to sea Pop and walk frog parallel to the shore line. I really do not fish frogs too much mainly because of all the swings and misses that Bass miss on them. Last evening, this 20 inch 4.5lb. Beauty completely devoured my top water Frog. I was casting the Revo Rocket with 30lb. power pro braid and I paired it up with a Falcon Boo Coo top water 7″2 medium heavy frog fishing rod I was talked into by Greg Catello from Fishing Connection in Tinley Park. As always my 2 1/2 year old son Mac was with me as my good luck Charm!
FOTW, the celebration of big fish and good stories around Chicago fishing, appears Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page.
