Everyone will remember Tuesday night’s game as Jake Arrieta pitched a complete game win to get his 20th win of the season.
However, Kris Bryant made a little history of his own. In the third inning with the game still scoreless, Bryant hit a no-doubter to left-center field.
Bryant took the pitch on the inner-half and drove it. The home run was his 26th of the season, breaking a Cubs rookie record held by Billy Williams since the 1961 season.
The young Cubs slugger broke the record in a few games less than Williams, who started the season a week later than Williams and hit his 26th two days ahead of the Hall of Famer.
Although, Williams was only 21 when he hit his 25 home runs.
The Cubs went on to win 4-0 behind Bryant’s bomb and Arrieta’s complete game win. Their magic number now sits at three.
