Man shot in hip in Austin

An 18-year-old man was shot in the Austin neighborhood Friday morning on the West Side.

He was walking with a group about 10:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Central when he heard shots and realized he’d been hit in the hip and groin area, according to Chicago Police.

The man, a documented gang member, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, but his condition was unknown Friday night, police said.
