A man was fatally shot Sunday evening in the East Side neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Paul Cruz, 31, was outside just after 5 p.m. in the 10300 block of South Avenue M when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Cruz was shot in the abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene at 5:29 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 10300 block of South Avenue L.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
