A 78-year-old Wisconsin woman died Monday in a crash in Winnebago County.

About 11:35 a.m. the woman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier in the wrong direction east in the westbound lanes of I-90 near milepost 3.5, Illinois State Police said.

Moments later the Chevrolet hit a 2015 Toyota Camry head on in the far left lane of I-90, ISP said. The woman driving the Chevrolet died on the scene.

The 25-year-old Loves Park man driving the Toyota was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, ISP said.

The crash is still being investigated.
