A man was shot early Sunday while driving in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 31-year-old was driving in the 3400 block of West Beach at 4:17 a.m. when another vehicle drove alongside and a male occupant opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the back and drove himself to Norwegian American Hospital, police said. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member and the shooting is thought to be gang-related.
