Man shot in chest, critically wounded in Lake View

A 55-year-old man was critically wounded when he was shot in the chest by an acquaintance Thursday morning in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

The man got into an argument with a 67-year-old man he knew in the 800 block of West Oakdale at 10:55 a.m., according to Chicago Police and a statement from Ald. Tom Tunney. The older man pulled a gun and shot the younger man in the left side of the chest.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

The shooter called 911, remained at the scene and is being questioned by police, according to the alderman. He has a valid concealed carry license.

“This is not a random incident,” according to Tunney.
