MillerCoors will continue to be headquartered in Chicago after it is fully owned by Molson Coors.
The brewer’s headquarters city and its 450 jobs in Chicago have been in question since Molson Coors agreed to pay $12 billion for the part of MillerCoors owned by SABMiller. SABMiller shed its 58 percent stake as part of its deal to merge with the maker of Budweiser, AB InBev.
Molson Coors will remain headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
MillerCoors chief executive Gavin Hattersley announced the headquarters decision in an email to employees.
“The name reflects our proud heritage here in the U.S. and has strong recognition and brand equity with our customers,” Hattersley wrote.
“We remain confident we will achieve the synergy targets we announced in November, largely from opportunities within our combined procurement, supply chain and shared services operations.”
MillerCoors’ brands include Miller, Coors, Blue Moon, Leinenkugel’s, Crispin Hard Cider and Redd’s Apple Ale.
MillerCoors branding will add the phrase “a Molson Coors company.”
