A man was shot Friday while driving in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.

The 29-year-old man was driving a four-door car in the 8300 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue at 9:50 p.m. He was stopped at a red light when the suspect walked up to the car and announced a robbery. The man drove off, and the suspect fired shots striking the victim in the right leg, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized, police said.
