(WESTMONT) Police are searching for the suspect in a Westmont sexual assault and home invasion that targeted a senior citizen on New Year’s Day.
About 7 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a reported home invasion and sexual assault in the 1100 block of South Williams Street, a statement from Westmont police said.
A senior citizen there said a man woke her up at gunpoint about 5 a.m., the statement said. He forced her to drive to an ATM and get cash from her account.
He later dropped the woman off near 83rd Street and Janes Avenue in Woodridge, police said. The woman was later taken to the hospital and is recovering from her injuries.
The suspect is described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet, with a stocky build, police said. He was wearing a dark jacket that may have been made of leather, and was carrying a handgun.
Westmont police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (630) 981-6319 or email chiefofpolice@westmont.il.gov.
