A man who was shot to death in the Austin neighborhood early Sunday on the West Side has been identified.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired at 5:08 a.m. in the 900 block of North Massasoit found 41-year-old Frederick Johnson in the driver seat of a car with two gunshot wounds to the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:34 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 5300 block of West Crystal.
